Carrier Route

A postal carrier route is the group of addresses to which the USPS assigns the same code. These codes are 9 digits - 5 digits of numbers for the ZIP Code, one letter for the carrier route type, and 3 numbers for the carrier route number. For example "05055R003" or "12508C007". Typically, each Carrier Route is related to where a particular mail carrier delivers.
To select by Carrier Route, enter the ZIP Code and then the corresponding Carrier Route in the boxes provided.
Why select by carrier route?
Any business wanting to reach a majority of addresses within a localized area.
How can you find a listing of Carrier Routes?
Contact your local post office. You can also see carrier route boundaries by using our "Select from a map" feature.

  Low to no risk includes:
Accurate and Mailable Addresses Only -
Almost all of your records will be delivered. These records are DPV (Delivery Point Validation) confirmed, which means that this address has been confirmed as a valid delivery point. If cost control is a priority, or if your message is personal or confidential, then you shouldn't check any additional boxes. However, if you want to expand your mailing universe and can tolerate some risk, you might consider checking additional boxes.

Also "Probably Deliverable" Addresses -
Most of your records will be delivered. These records are DPV (Delivery Point Validation) confirmed, but might include some seasonal addresses or other challenges in delivery. If cost control is a priority, or if your message is personal or confidential, then uncheck this box. Or, if you want to expand your mailing universe even more and can tolerate additional risk, you might consider checking the "Some risk" box.

Also "Might Be Deliverable" Addresses -
Some of your records will NOT be delivered. All of the primary addresses are DPV (Delivery Point Validation) confirmed, but a few records might lack necessary secondary information, such as an apartment or suite number. Some of these additional records, though, will be delivered. You'll spend a little more and see a few more returned mail pieces, but you'll reach more prospects, too.
All lists with telephone numbers will automatically exclude Federal Do No Call telephone numbers. You will be required to have a valid Subscription Account Number (SAN) to order this list.

Sensitive Data

What is sensitive data?
The Direct Marketing Association has defined sensitive marketing data as anything pertaining to children, health care or treatment, or the financial accounts of individuals. As a member of The DMA, Data Axle USA is committed to protecting consumer privacy and has added religion, ethnicity and age to our list of sensitive criteria.

An excellent resource for in depth sensitive data information can be found here:
http://www.the-dma.org/guidelines/

For your convenience, we indicate sensitive data elements with a  icon.
What do I need to supply for approval?
We will need to approve a copy of the actual mail piece or phone sales script you will be using.
  • Letters or phone sales scripts must be typed on company letterhead.
  • If you are sending a postcard, we will need a copy of the front and back.
  • All requested changes must be submitted following the same guidelines.
  • Handwritten changes will not be accepted.
Note: Your marketing materials are confidential.
Do you have any tips for my marketing materials?
By eliminating language that shows you know or assume to know the sensitive information, you can streamline the approval process. For example, when marketing to consumers with children, instead of writing, "Your kids eat free on Tuesday," write it to read, "Kids eat free on Tuesday."

An example of a poor marketing piece is one that would cause the recipient to ask, "How do they know this about me?" An approvable mail piece should not imply that the sender knows any personal information about the recipient.

Where do I send my materials for review?
Call your sales representative or the phone number at the top of this page for instructions.
How do I receive my list once my materials are approved?
After your materials are approved, your sales representative will process your order and send your list to you.
